Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

1. Who this policy applies to

This Privacy Policy explains how Jionee Mobile Medical Diagnostics Limited (“Jionee”, “we”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use the Jionee Platform — our website, mobile app, and related services.

2. What we collect

Account data: your phone number, name, optional email, and authentication history.

Booking data: the services you select, your delivery location (latitude, longitude, address), facility name if applicable, and the provider you choose.

Payment data: the mobile money channel you use, the phone number associated with payment, transaction references, and payment status. We do not store your M-Pesa PIN or card credentials.

Technical data: device type, browser, IP address, and logs necessary for security, debugging, and fraud prevention.

Health-relevant data: the categories of diagnostic services you book. We do not store clinical results, reports, or images on our platform — those are handled directly by the provider or delivered to you via SMS.

3. How we use your data

To operate the Platform: matching you with nearby providers, routing your booking, and confirming payments.

To communicate with you: OTPs for login, order status updates by SMS and push notifications, invoices, and customer support.

To improve the Platform: understanding which services are most used, resolving bugs, and making the booking experience more reliable.

To comply with the law: responding to lawful requests from regulators and authorities where required.

4. Location data

We process your location so that providers can navigate to you. You may set your location manually by typing an address or by granting browser/app geolocation permission. You can withdraw geolocation access in your device settings at any time; you can still book by typing an address.

5. Who we share data with

Providers: for any order you book, the assigned provider receives your name, phone number, and delivery location so they can fulfil the service.

Payment partners: our mobile money gateway processes payments on our behalf. They receive the phone number and amount needed to initiate the STK push.

Infrastructure partners: we use cloud hosting, SMS delivery, and mapping providers to operate the Platform. Each handles data only as instructed.

Legal: where we are required by law to disclose information to authorities, regulators, or courts.

6. Your rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, object to certain uses, and request deletion where there is no legitimate need for us to retain it. Requests can be sent to info@jionee.co.ke.

7. Data retention

We retain account and transaction data for as long as your account is active and for a further period required by tax and financial regulations. Location data tied to a specific order is retained for the duration needed to deliver the service and resolve any disputes, then aggregated or deleted.

8. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure — if we ever detect a data incident affecting you, we will notify you and the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner as required by law.

9. Children

The Platform is not intended for users under the age of 18. Parents or guardians may book services on behalf of a minor from their own verified account.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this Privacy Policy materially, we will notify you through the Platform or by SMS before the change takes effect.

11. Contact

Our Data Protection contact is info@jionee.co.ke. You may also reach us at 0718 141 066 or at Mtindwa Stage, Umoja, Nairobi.
